After an unprecedented period of prosperity in the 1950s and 60s the world economy has been stuck with a slow growth and persistently high unemployment since 1973. Growth was first decelerated in the industrial “center”. By heavy borrowing recessionary tendences were postponed few years in the developing “periphery”.
