Is Labor Shortage Real?
Abstract
The cleaning industry in Uusimaa was classified last year as an area with significant difficulty in obtaining labor. However, statistics indicate an improvement in labor availability compared to the situation in the middle of the last decade. The number of unemployed job seekers in relation to open positions has increased, and jobs are filled more quickly than before. Furthermore, wages in the cleaning sector have risen noticeably slower than the average income level. The statistical data used in occupational classifications should be expanded beyond the current Occupational Barometer in accordance with international practices.
