The formation of household incomes and consumption budgets — Finland in international comparison

Other Publications, Reports 6 Heli Mäkinen

Abstract

The report examines the formation of household incomes in Finland, in other small EU countries, in certain large industrialised nations, and in Finland’s neighbouring regions. The first section of the report provides a detailed overview of productivity levels and development across different countries. From there the report proceeds to labour costs and then, in the second section, to household incomes. With regard to household incomes, the focus is on changes in the shares of factor incomes and net transfer payments, as well as the structure of primary income. The section also includes a report on research into household consumption budgets. The report concludes with an examination of trends in income inequality. (AI translation)
