The lobbying activities of Finnish employer and industry federations in 1941–1975
The study examines the activities of business interest organisations and pressure groups in Finnish society.
The expansion of public authority and the growth of administrative institutions have made the distribution of costs and benefits a central object of political struggle. In this environment, the organisations of different social classes — trade unions, agricultural producer organisations, and employer federations — have emerged as significant actors without actually seeking political power as such.
Pressure group research has developed as a scholarly discipline particularly since the Second World War. In Finland, however, research has focused primarily on the trade union movement and agricultural producer organisations. The activities of employer and industry federations have remained almost entirely unstudied — this gap is the central starting point of the study. (AI translation)
