OECD-Seminar: Rebooting the Innovation Ecosystems

You are most welcomed to the OECD-Seminar “Rebooting the innovation ecosystems” – conducted by LABORE Labour Institute for Economic Research and Ministry of Finance Finland.

The seminar takes place on December 15^th (16:00-17:30) at Economicum (Arkadiankatu 7, 00100 Helsinki), LABORE’s seminar room, 4th floor. You can also participate online via Teams.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Please register HERE by 14^th December. Space at the venue is limited; we will confirm all registrations prior to the event. Online participation is not limited by number.

Naomitsu Yashiro (Ph.D., Econ.) is currently Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund. Until October 2022, he was Economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), co-drafting the 2022 Economic Survey of Finland. He was previously a faculty member at Kyoto University and an official at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). He has published several research papers in areas of international trade, innovation and the future of work, and the Chinese economy. Most recently, he published an academic article on Finland’s unemployment tunnel with researchers of the VATT Institute for Economic Research. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Kyoto University and a master’s degree in Economics from Boston University.

Heli Koski (Ph.D., Econ.) is the Research Director at Etla’s “Growth, International Trade and Competition” research program. She has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals such as Research Policy, Journal of Industry, Competition and Trade, Information Economics and Policy, and Review of Industrial Organization. Her previous affiliations include work as research director at Aalto University, responsible for the strategic research program “Disruptive Technologies and Changing Institutions” of the Academy of Finland, lecturer at the London School of Economics and Professor (acting) of Technology Management at Helsinki School of Economics.

Mika Maliranta (Ph.D., Econ.) is the Director at Labour Institute for Economic Research LABORE (Helsinki, Finland) and the Professor at University of Jyväskylä. Maliranta has analysed empirically the role of “Creative Destruction” and other micro-level sources of productivity growth and has contributed to methodological work in this area. His recent research interests include, among other things, productivity effects of management practises. Research results have been published in a number peer-reviewed international journal articles including, inter alia, Economic Policy, Research Policy, Oxford Economic Papers, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, and Scandinavia Journal of Economics. He is the Chair of Bureau of OECD Working Party on Industry Analyses and the Member of Council of Finnish Legislation Evaluation.
