Wage Differences in Finland: An Examination of the Structure and Development of Private Sector Wages
Abstract
Wage differences among industrial clerical employees increased significantly in the early 2000s. The wage gaps grew almost exclusively among employees earning an average higher salary. Additionally, the growth of wage differences was considerably greater when measured with total earnings that include various bonuses compared to when measured solely with base salary. The increase in wage differences for employees in the service sector, especially among industrial workers, was significantly smaller than that of industrial clerical employees.
