Job and Employee Turnover in Finland: A Regional Perspective

Other Publications Studies 81 Petri Böckerman

Abstract

At the Labour Institute for Economic Research, Petri Böckerman has completed a study on the mechanisms through which private sector labor markets across Finland adjusted to the recession of the early 1990s and the subsequent economic recovery. Merely comparing unemployment rates does not reveal regional differences in the structures and functioning of labor markets. Böckerman’s study examines both the creation and destruction of jobs (job flows) as well as the recruitment and dismissal (or resignation) of employees at establishments (employee flows).
